Search Queries
A name or place submitted through a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. Nottoway County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared beyond our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical information whenever a visitor opens a page, including:
- The date and time of each page request
- The referring website, when one is provided
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Nottoway County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Its content identifies the official custodians of Nottoway County records, including local courts, law-enforcement offices, the Virginia Department of State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division through CARE and CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia Code § 19.2-389 controls dissemination of CCRE criminal-history information; nothing collected about website visitors is used to assemble a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on the website. Information entered into one of those tools is subject to that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices, so visitors should review those terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Nottoway County offices, Virginia court systems, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy governs the visit. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select interest-based advertisements. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.

The Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA), Virginia Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., concerns access to records held by public bodies, while Virginia Code § 19.2-389 governs dissemination of CCRE criminal-history information. Those laws do not turn this private website into a government record custodian. Visitors may still ask us to:
